AVG Free is the best anti-virus out there right now. Norton is total junk, uses up a lot of system resources and you have to pay for it. Avast is also a good free anti-virus. You can download AVG from the link below. There is absolutely no spyware and it is completely free.

AVG is good, the only small thing that bugs me, is that it'll update when you're in the middle of something and interrupt what you're doing (i.e. you have to attend to it, and click OK, you've updated.

You can also try clamwin (clamwin.com) - it's also free, and has a small memory footprint.
