The two best are McAfee and Norton. They each offer multiple suits with different solutions. The basic solution set should include Antivirus and Antispyware.

My personal preference is McAfee. I've used it for years with no issues.

I would definitely avoid the freeware/shareware solutions. You just can't trust a security vendor who barely has enough research abilities to keep their technology running let alone keeping up to date with all the new threats hitting the market.
