I have Windows Vista Home Premium and whenever I startup my computer it takes forever! 5+ minutes after my desktop shows up. My antivirus software takes forever, and if I try to do anything before that then my computer is slow and many things won't work. Also, I have dialup internet, and it takes like 5-10 minutes until I connect when I boot up. My computer thinks it's already connected and it shows "Status" instead of "Connect" if I right click. My antivirus requires the permission thingy where it pops up and says Continue and Cancel. Usually. Sometimes it doesn't. But why does it take forever to start up? It never used to! I have a registry optimizer and ran it, still slow.

Hello Tommy,
Have you given any thought to a Registry Cleaner? I recently used one called RegCure (~$30), along with a disk cleanup and defragment and my PC now runs much smoother.
